1. Who We Are and How to Contact Us
1.1 This Privacy Policy is issued by Hindustan Astro, which operates the website www.hindustanastro.com and provides astrology consultations, reports, remedies, publications, and related products and services. In this Policy, Hindustan Astro is referred to as we, us, or our, and the individual to whom personal information relates is referred to as you.
1.2 We are the Data Fiduciary responsible for your personal information under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023.

2. Scope and Acceptance
2.1 This Policy explains how we collect, use, store, share, and protect your personal information, and it forms part of our Terms of Service.
2.2 By using our website or our services, you acknowledge that you have read and understood this Policy. Where the law requires your consent for a particular activity, we rely on the consent you provide and not merely on your use of our services.
3. Definitions
3.1 Personal information means any data about an individual who can be identified by or in relation to that data.
3.2 Sensitive information means personal information that requires a higher degree of protection, and for our purposes it includes the date, time, and place of your birth and any similar details used to prepare your astrology analysis.
3.3 Processing means any operation performed on personal information, including its collection, storage, use, sharing, and deletion.
3.4 Data Principal means the individual to whom the personal information relates, and Data Fiduciary means the person who determines the purpose and means of processing, which in this Policy is us.
4. Information We Collect
4.1 Information you provide to us. This includes your full name, the date, time, and place of your birth, your email address, your phone number, and your billing and shipping address.
4.2 Information generated through our services. This includes your consultation inputs, your Janam Kundli details, and records confirming your purchases and payments.
4.3 Information collected automatically. When you visit our website, we collect your internet protocol address, your device and browser details, and identifiers from cookies and similar technologies, as described in our Cookies and Tracking notice.
4.4 Payment information. When you make a payment, your payment details are collected and processed by our third party payment processors. We do not store your card details on our own systems.
5. How We Use Your Information
5.1 We use your personal information to create and manage your account, to prepare your astrology analysis and Janam Kundli, to deliver your consultations, reports, webinars, and other services, to process your payments and ship your products, to provide customer support, to operate and improve our website and services, and to meet our obligations under the law.
5.2 With your consent, we send you updates and promotional material, and you may decline or withdraw from these at any time without affecting any service you have already purchased.
5.3 We may use certain material, such as customer reviews, ratings, general feedback, and recordings of webinars in which you choose to take part, for marketing and promotional purposes. Where a webinar is recorded, we tell you at the time of recording that the session is being recorded and may be used for these purposes, and your participation confirms your agreement to this use. Where we wish to use your photograph, image, name, or a testimonial that identifies you in our advertising, we obtain your separate and specific consent before doing so.
5.4 We may also use certain chat and call material to train our customer care team and our AI chatbots and to improve the quality of our service. Before any material is used for this purpose, we remove your personal identifying details, including your contact number, your address, and your name, so that the material used for training and quality does not contain information that identifies you.
6. Legal Bases for Processing
6.1 We process your personal information on the lawful bases recognised under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023. These include the consent you give us, certain legitimate uses permitted under that Act, the performance of our contract with you, and compliance with our legal obligations.
7. Sale of Personal Information
7.1 We do not sell your personal information to any third party.
8. Confidentiality of Consultations and Webinars
8.1 Our video call consultations and in person consultations are fully private, and we do not record the audio or video of any consultation without your permission, as set out in our Consultation Terms.
8.2 Audio and video are recorded only during webinars, after notice to you at the time of recording. Your participation in any webinar, and our use of those recordings, is governed by our Webinar Terms.
8.3 You may not record, distribute, or publish the content of any consultation, webinar, or session without our prior written permission.
9. Chat, Calling, and Automation Services
9.1 Our customer chat and automation services across our messaging channels, including WhatsApp, Instagram, and Facebook, and our website chatbot, are operated through Superchat, a provider based in the European Union, whose servers are located in the European Union. Our telephone calling support is operated through Superfone, a provider based in India.
9.2 Depending on the channel you use, the data you share through these services, including your messages, voice, and other information, may be processed and stored in India or in the European Union. If in future we change a provider, we will inform you and update the relevant parts of this Policy, and we will make sure that any new provider is a reputed third party that respects and values our privacy standards and our policies and is approved by us. Any such change will be published on our Platform Updates page within 60 working days. Wherever your data is processed, we apply appropriate safeguards and act in accordance with the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 and any restriction notified by the Central Government.
9.3 Depending on the availability of our team and our systems at the time, your first interaction on our chat or calling channels may be handled by an AI agent that records your details and passes them to our human team. An AI agent can make mistakes, so if your matter is important or relates to a legal issue, we recommend that you write to us by email. Further detail is set out in our AI Policy.
10. How We Share Your Information
10.1 We share your information only where it is necessary and lawful to do so. The recipients may include our Janam Kundli preparation partners, our printing and formatting providers, our courier and shipping partners, our payment processors, our chat, calling, and automation providers, and our website hosting and technical support providers.
10.2 Every such provider is required to use your personal information only for the purpose we agree with them and to maintain appropriate security standards.
10.3 We may disclose your information where required by law or by a valid legal authority. Hindustan Astro is run as a sole proprietorship, and we do not sell or transfer your personal information to any third party except as described in this Policy. Any change in how the business is run will continue to keep your information protected under this Policy.
10.4 We keep certain internal business records, such as our lead and customer lists, in secure spreadsheet and office tools, including Google Sheets, which we access through our own protected accounts. We limit who can see these records and apply reasonable security measures to protect them.
11. Cross Border Transfers
11.1 Where your information is processed or stored outside India, including in the European Union, we carry out the transfer in accordance with the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 and any restriction notified by the Central Government, and we apply appropriate safeguards to protect your information.
12. Data Retention
12.1 We retain your personal information only for as long as it is necessary for the purposes described in this Policy. Consultation and service records are kept for as long as needed to provide your service and to meet our legal, accounting, and tax obligations. Webinar recordings are kept for up to one year, with your consent. Financial and transaction records are kept for as long as the law requires. Cookie data is kept in accordance with your consent.
12.2 Once the applicable period ends, we securely delete or anonymise your information.
13. Security
13.1 We protect your personal information using reasonable technical and organisational safeguards designed to prevent unauthorised access, misuse, or disclosure.
13.2 While we take strong measures to protect your information, no digital system can guarantee complete security.
13.3 If a personal data breach occurs that may affect your personal information, we will take immediate steps to contain it, and we will notify the Data Protection Board of India and the affected individuals in the manner and within the timelines required under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023.
14. Children's Information
14.1 Our website and services are intended for adults. We do not knowingly process the personal information of a person under 18 years of age except where a parent or lawful guardian provides verifiable consent and requests the service on the minor's behalf.
14.2 A horoscope or Janam Kundli for a person under 18 may be prepared only where the parent or lawful guardian gives consent and makes the request. In that case, the parent or guardian is responsible for providing the birth details, and we process that information under this Policy. If we become aware that we have processed a minor's information without the required parental or guardian consent, we will delete it.
15. Your Rights
15.1 Subject to the applicable law, you have the right to access the personal information we hold about you, to request correction of information that is inaccurate or incomplete, to request erasure of your information where deletion is legally permitted, to nominate another person to exercise your rights in the event of your death or incapacity, and to withdraw your consent at any time without affecting the lawfulness of processing carried out before the withdrawal.
15.2 To exercise any of these rights, you may write to us at privacy@hindustanastro.com. We may verify your identity before acting on your request. We acknowledge every request within five working days and work to resolve it within 30 days, with working days excluding Sundays and public holidays.
15.3 If you are not satisfied with our response, you may approach the Data Protection Board of India in accordance with the rights available to you under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023.
16. Changes to this Policy
16.1 We may update this Policy from time to time. The updated version will be published on this page with a revised date, and material changes will also be noted on our Platform Updates page.
16.2 Your continued use of our website or services after a change takes effect means that you accept the updated Policy.
